The city has put out a press release announcing it has completed the installation of pedestrian countdown signals at 27 more Seattle intersections, for a total of 80. One of the new arrivals is at 15th Ave. and 85th St. “These countdown signals will help significantly in our efforts to make Seattle the most walkable big city in the country,” said SDOT Director Grace Crunica. Studies show they reduce vehicle-pedestrian accidents, but I think more drivers than pedestrians use those things, speeding up as it counts down to a yellow light.
