Buddha gone from Café Bambino

We received an email this morning that the Buddha statue and sign had disappeared from the top of Café Bambino along 65th Ave.

Sure enough, the Buddha is gone, and the baristas say it’s not because it was stolen (like it was once before) — but it was removed for roof repairs.

(Here’s an earlier photo with the Buddha sitting proudly on the roof. Photo by Joe Mabel.) Café Bambino has no plans to close during the project, although the employees said the noise on Friday was near-deafening. Once the roof is ready, the Buddha and coffee mug will be bolted back into place. By the way, Café Bambino was recently voted as “Best Coffee shop on a Sunday morning” by Seattle Magazine. (Thanks for the tip Shannon!)
