Along 19th Ave NW at Salmon Bay Park, many cars zip by without slowing down. “For some reason the road pattern in front of the park encourages speeding. It creates a real problem for the park,” tipster Gail tells us. Neighbors near the park are fed up, so they decided to raise money for a traffic circle at the intersection on 19th & 70th. The project has already been approved by SDOT and the group has received a $7,000 grant from the city.
In order to move forward, the neighbors must raise the remaining funds by September 25th or they lose the grant. They’d then have to wait 3 months to reapply. “We’ve collected $4,700 in pledges and we really need to collect about $2,000 more,” Collen Butler, one of the organizers says. The donation is tax deductible. Checks can be made out to “The Circle Fund” and sent to: Ruby Grynberg; 6746 19th Ave NW; Seattle, WA 98117
