Sign goes up at Take 5 Urban Market

The sign is up out front and they’re stocking the shelves and the deli case inside Take 5 Urban Market, located at the corner of 8th Ave. and 70th St.

We wrote a week ago about the new market, which replaces the Wicker Basket. One new detail: it’ll also have espresso made from Phinney Ridge’s Herkimer Coffee beans, which will arguably make it the best place to get a hot caffeinated beverage on 8th Avenue.

  1. Nice place to go with great homemade food. Talked to the owners and they are going out of their way to provide good prepared in store food. Bryan Vietmeier is the chef that is on duty 4 days a week 10 hour days busy working behind the counter to provide restaurant quality food at an affordable price for take out or eat in. There is a dinner special every night and they usually have a sign out front on the window telling the neighborhood what is on the menu for the evening. They always have homemade macaroni and cheese, meatloaf, quiche (meat as well as vegetarian) and the desserts are familiar favorites New York Cheesecake, apple crisp, and carrot cake, as well as homemade oatmeal, choc chip, and peanut butter cookies. They also have a great selection of local wines, beers, fruit and vegetables.
