Viaduct replacement passes Senate

The deep-bore tunnel option to replace the viaduct passed the state Senate this morning, according to the Seattle PI. “I’ll bet the whole debate didn’t last 10 minutes,” said Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle, one of the sponsors of Senate Bill 5768 designating the tunnel as the replacement told the paper. After the quick debate, Senators approved the measure 43-6. The House will now take on the issue, where the Speaker of the House opposes the plan.
