The Seattle Animal Shelter is cleaning up after a fire this past weekend. According to a letter to their volunteers, the fire “began near the dryer in the laundry room and did not spread far outside of the laundry room.” Our sister site, Magnolia Voice, is reporting that no animals were hurt in the fire but the commercial washer and dryer are no longer usable and a lot of supplies were burned. The shelter director says that they need blankets, towels and cat and dog toys. Donations can be taken to the shelter. (Thanks Robert for the email.)

Will they take old shoes for dog toys? My girlfriend's pup sure likes to chew Uggs.
lol…the pup likes ya! ;-)
No, no shoes Luke, just toys that you get from the pet store.
Towels and blankets, too!
Oh, I've got plenty of new toys my cats don't like as much as my jewelry. Pet blankets too. They've spurned every one I've brought home.
You can donate money at this link too:

I threw a few bucks at the “Help the Animals Fund” since that's their catch all fund for these kinds of things.
Good idea. Thanks for the link, SPG!
That's where our trusty dog came from, so I don't mind throwing them a couple bucks now and then.
