Ballard choir headed to the Big Apple

The Ballard High School choir, under the direction of Courtney Rowley, has been invited to perform at Lincoln Center in New York City next May. “We believe that this is the first time that a Seattle Public Schools choral group has received such an invitation. In fact, it’s likely that this is one of the few such invitations in the state,” says Bernice Ege-Zavala of the BHS Music Boosters. The group will perform Randall Thompson’s Frostiana along with other choruses from around the world.

“It is quite an honor just to be invited to perform in Lincoln Center,” said Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for Distinguished Concerts International. “These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community. This is an event of extreme pride for everybody and deserving of the community’s recognition and support.” You can hear the BHS Choir at their spring performance coming up on May 27th at 7 p.m.
