Kathy Casey staying in Ballard

Back in April, the word was that Kathy Casey would be leaving Ballard for the other side of the ship canal. Well, things have changed and she’s staying put.

In her “Dishing with Kathy Casey Newsletter,” she writes:

Sometimes the best laid plans can change and that is just what happened. As many of you know, we were deep in the works to move our Food Studios across the bay to a fantastic new space on Salmon Bay, but issues with landlord permitting and usage put a kink in our plans … so we ARE NOT MOVING. The Food Studios is remaining at our great digs in historic Ballard! Sometimes things just aren’t meant to be … and we accept them for that.

And what about our Ballard Dish D’Lish location? YES, it’s staying, too! And the “out back” garden patio is open for summer lunches

  1. Awesome! I was NOT looking forward to the departure of my favorite sandwich shop. The food is great and the people are friendly. But the best part of this story is that Kathy gets to thumb her nose at all you haters out there who ripped her apart last time.

    I'm smiling right now.

  2. I am so happy to hear the news! I love everything she does, and I get hungry every time I read her blog! Yeah, glad you are staying Kathy!!!

  3. I am gonna have to agree with stopthebuzz on this one. Trying to get rid of Conor Byrne and Lock N Keel wasn't my favorite Kathy Casey move. I don't care if she's there or moves, so long as she doesn't try and take over the rest of the block again.

  4. not so sure of the cusotomer service. i walked in there once with the family. nobody was in there, just an employee on the phone. waited for 1o minutes.

that is probably the only impression i will ever have of that place.

  5. I go in there every other day for lunch (work across the street). Food is great, staff is friendly. I have no idea what they mean by bathroom access. Hell – they even have booze.

You want attitude? Go into the Conor Byrne… such a friendly place.

  6. Hey, don't knock the 'Byrne paisan, they are great folks, I always get friendly and prompt service and affordable drinks and their space is a large part of what makes Ballard Ave rock. D'Lish has nothing I want to buy.

And CB's serves Boddingtons, all the way from Strangeways…
