The weekend events calendar

After a cooler start to the week, it’s going to be a beautiful Saturday to be outdoors. According to King5 there could be a raindrop or two on Sunday.

  • The Nordic Heritage Museum’s annual Viking Days festival on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend is full of unique Scandinavian entertainment, food, arts & crafts merchants and real live Vikings only seen in Ballard! Admission to the Viking Days and the museum is free.
  • The 2nd annual “Beginning of Summer Bash” is on Saturday at Salmon Bay Park. 19th Ave NW will be closed off from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The “Picnic at the Precinct” is on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the North Precinct (10049 College Way). It’s a great way to meet the officers who serve Ballard and take a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement. The kid pictured above is checking out the bomb squad robot at last year’s picnic.
  • The Puget Sound Symphony Chamber Players will be performing at the Locks on Saturday and the Greenwood Concert Band will be back again this Sunday to perform. Both concerts are from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The monthly Ballard ArtWalk is Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can download the map from the Chamber’s website.
  • For more live music, check out the calendars for the Tractor Tavern, Sunset Tavern, The Bit Saloon, High Dive, Conor Byrne, Egan’s Ballard Jam House and Nectar. As always, check out our events calendar. And if you have an event to add, just email us at tips@myballard.com.

    1. I just spoke to someone at the Chamber of Commerce, they'll have tomorrow's ArtWalk map up shortly. There were printing issues this week.

And as someone who's on the artwalk for the first time, drop by and see my photography, please! :)
