The weekend events calendar

It’s going to be another warm and sunny Seattle weekend, with some clouds on Sunday morning. Sounds perfect for skateboarding and chowder? Check out the events below and you’ll understand what we mean.

  • Always a terrific event, the Ballard Art in the Garden Party (above) will feature local artwork, food, music and a silent auction — right in the middle of the Ballard P-Patch at 85th and 25th. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. More details and music schedule at BallardGardenParty.com
  • Bright and early Saturday morning is a work party at the 9th Ave NW Park. Work from 9 a.m. to noon and then enjoy an ice cream social from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. They will be taking an informal survey to learn what neighbors want to see at the park.
  • Toad and Salmon’s Chowder Bowl takes over the skate bowl at Ballard Commons Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. This is a skateboarding competition with a chowder cook-off. The production crew expects 250 spectators and 70 participants (50 skateboarders and 20 chowder contestants.) The event is free for spectators.
  • Dukes and Diva will give an extended performance at the Ballard Locks on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Coal Creek Jazz Band will perform on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • For more live music, check out the calendars for the Tractor Tavern, Sunset Tavern, The Bit Saloon, High Dive, Conor Byrne, Egan’s Ballard Jam House and Nectar. As always, check out our events calendar. And if you have an event to add, just email us at tips@myballard.com.
