MovieCycle, the entertainment buy/sell/trade store that we wrote about last week is now open at 2240 NW Market St.
We spoke with the manager, Jeremy Keyes, who tells us that they’ll take DVD, Blu Ray, PSP movies and video games. They’ll also take VHS “but we really don’t want to,” he said. They’ll buy DVDs for $1.50 and up, and buy Blu Ray for around $6. Games are tricky he says, some will be worth pennies, others up to $20. If you want to buy a movie or game, “prices range from $2.99 and up, with most items priced at $5.99 and $6.99,” Keyes says. They’ll be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. They don’t offer phone quotes, but feel free to bring in as many movies as you’d like for a quote. They’ll be posting their newest arrivals and special offers on Twitter.

I was all excited about a Movie Theater powered by stationary bicycles… :)
fastest and cheapest build out ever
New arrivals and special offers will just be on Twitter? That's slightly disappointing, but I'm really looking forward to checking this place out.
Would be nice to have the option of e-mail alerts too, though.
I thought the selection was pretty lousy. Cheap though.
The selection is bound to improve as soon as people start bringing in stuff for them to buy. Like a used book store, same concept.
I personally would like to see a store like this cater to more obscure/rare releases. Probably not very realistic, but I can watch most of these newer Hollywood movies on Netflix.
We can do email updates, Nora. Nothing is set in stone, we're looking to get announcements out in a variety of ways. Twitter is just one of those ways.
Wow, give them some time to get rolling! They've only been open a few days. I'm sure their selection will improve as more people start going there.
Glad to have you in the 'hood!
I'd love us to have a more eclectic and obscure selection, Andrew. Keep in mind that an inventory of used DVDs like that doesn't happen overnight. As Nora said, we'll have a better variety as people begin to sell those kinds of titles. Glad you were able to find your way into the store.
Thanks for the warm welcome! Once again, I'd like to offer myballard.com readers 10% off purchases or an additional 10% on trade-ins. Just mention you read about us here. Looking forward to seeing you here. Once again, thank you all for the great Ballard welcome.
Welcome DVDguy! Will you accept Wii games also, or just Play Station?
We'll take all kinds of games. Bring them into the store and we'll tell you what we can give you for them.
Thanks! Yeah, not a big deal, but I've so far been able to avoid Twitter. :-)
Huzzah! Finally a place to unload my collection of Linsay Lohan DVDs (seriously). Final destination thrillogy, fast and the furious collection… I guess you could say, I used to buy movies before watching them… Actually, I haven't even watched Georgia Rule yet:) that's a plus!
