Chris Ballew sings at Ballard Farmers Market

Chris Ballew, of The Presidents of the United States of America, was among the buskers at the Ballard Farmers Market today.

Ballew has a new group called Caspar Babypants, which features songs for kids. Today he was playing some of those songs for the passersby. Dale of PhinneyWood.com emailed us this photo and says, “I’m pretty sure most people had no idea it was him, or there probably would have been more people hanging around to hear him play.” Caspar Babypants currently has two CDs out and they’re working on a third. “He told me he uses these opportunities to try out songs he’s considering for his next CD,” Dale tells us.

  1. I had no idea. I paused as I walked by and listened to him play a children's song and thought it was very cute to see all the kids dancing around. ;-) Thanks for the information!

  2. Hah, I walked by him at the Market and didn't recognize him, just commented to my wife: “That guy has a great muppet-skin hat!” Darn. I love the Presidents.

  3. Casper Babypants are great. We've taken our kids to several of their shows and own their CDs. It's some of the only kids music that doesn't make me want to wretch. I know that may not seem like much of a complement but it is. Most kids stuff out there is just awful.

  4. Wow that is so strange, I was at the next doorway up giving away free bicycle maps and information and I listened to him for about 2 hours plus and didn't know who he was. He sounded GREAT and had all the kids jumping up and down including me. His music warmed me on a cold, damp day.
I hope he comes back again. Although he did take my space :)
