‘Deadliest Catch’ star arrested in Seattle

“Deadliest Catch” deckhand and son of the late Captain Phil Harris, Jake Harris was arrested by the State Patrol for investigation of DUI and hit-and-run, KIRO-TV reports. The State Patrol said they arrested Harris Thursday night on Mercer St., and investigators said a car matching the description had rear-ended another vehicle several hours earlier. KIRO-TV reports that a spokesperson for Harris denies any wrongdoing. Harris’ father, Captain Phil Harris, died earlier this month after suffering a stroke.

  1. Josh and their sister were at Edgewater bar last week. They were in bad shape (grieving & drunk) from what I saw. Let's just all wrap our arms and eyes around them and hope they right their little ships in honor of the dad. I've lost peeps also and remember those who padded and protected me during that time. Big hugs kids. We in Ballard are here for you!

  2. That is so sad that he lost his father. However plenty of people grieve without driving drunk. It is absolutely no excuse and he's lucky he didn't kill another person.

  3. I agree it is tragic that they lost their father, but they also need to be responsible. A friend and I were hit by a drunk driver who ironically had been drinking because her daughter had been in a car accident. Her daughter ended up being fine from her accident but the friend I was with has permanent brain damage. My friend's mother didn't go out and drink and drive after that (thankfully).

  4. Truly sad. Too many people grieve with a bottle. Understandable as his grief is, it's very lucky they didn't cause another death in the process.

  5. I'm very sorry to hear this. I can't imagine what it must be like to have such a painful loss discussed in the papers and on television (and even worse, featured in People magazine). But that is no excuse for drinking and driving. If he couldn't find a friend who would drive him around, he probably has bunches of fans who would be falling all over themselves to do so.

I'll say another prayer for them. They might be on TV, but they're not actors playing a character. This is real life, and I hate to see any one them unravel like this.
