On Friday evening, the Nordic Heritage Museum will host Dr. Gylfi Magnússon, Iceland’s Minister of Economic Affairs, who will discuss the banking crisis in his country. Here is information from the museum:
The Minister will discuss the effects of the 2008 banking crisis on the Icelandic economy, the government’s plan for getting economic growth back on track, sweeping reforms of banking supervision and regulation, the collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and how Iceland’s situation can be viewed from an international perspective. Discussion will follow. The Icelandic Ambassador in Washington D.C., Mr. Hjálmar Hannesson, will introduce Minister Magnússon. Light refreshments will be served and the Museum will provide a no-host bar.
