Whitman ‘buskers’ donate hundreds to Fremont family

With the guitar cases open and strategically placed in front of them, about 40 students from Whitman Middle School practiced the art of “busking” at Bergen Place Park.

During the two-hour show last weekend the students raised about $800 for the family of former Whitman student Joseph Gebregiorgis. Gebregiogis was was one of five family members to die in the tragic fire in Fremont on June 12th. (Photo courtesy Joel Orsen.)

  1. Thumbs up, kids.

Although I’d hesitate to call them “buskers”–they look like they were all in-tune and playing a pleasing variety of material, instead of honking away on three songs for an hour.
