Accident traps man between two parked cars

A convertible smashed into a parked car along 15th Ave. NW just north of 67th St. just before 5 p.m. this evening. The accident triggered a chain reaction, trapping a man between two other parked cars, witnesses say.

Another man, a passenger in the convertible, was also taken to the hospital (pictured above). The driver, who was given a DUI test at the scene, was also taken away in an ambulance with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Immediately after the accident, two bicyclists riding nearby came to the aid of the man trapped between the second and third parked cars. They helped steady him until firefighters arrived, and folks from the Ballard Massage Center next door provided blankets and water. One bicyclist told us the man was putting something into his trunk when the accident happened.

No word on the condition of the trapped man. Regardless of whether this accident involved alcohol, it’s a good reminder to stay safe this holiday weekend. (Thanks Silver for the tip!)

  1. Time for a road diet on 15th! One lane of cars in each direction in the middle, bus only lanes, then bike lanes should do the trick. Get rid of on street parking while you are at it, reclaim that area as green space. Why should the public pay for parking that benefits private business?

  3. Ok, Disqus is seriously hosed. Half the time when I reload this page comments from 2 years ago not even related to this story pop up. A few times I even got the old comment system and was able to post and everything. Get it together “Geeky” Swedes! I know running a blog doesn’t exactly require intelligence but you can at least fake it. Go ahead and hire someone to get that new comment system you’ve been promising everyone. And quit it with all of this social media plugin BS. These pages take forever to load now that my browser needs to connect to a gazillion different servers just to display a simple blog entry.

  4. Hey! I was there and saw the whole thing. Street Parking had nothing to do with it, the woman was going way too fast a lost control of the car, so fast the her car bounced back off the silver car after pushing TWO cars into a guy going through his trunk and pinned him under his own car! Parking was not the problem, an irresponsible driver WHO TRIED TO LEAVE THE SCENE was.

If you’re gonna make comments kindly make sure you are informed before opening your big mouth.

  5. Just checked back here for the first time in a couple of months. You’re referring to another accident at nearly the same place, where a SubPop employee died from injuries in a rear-ender, and his 3 year old daughter was pulled from his burning car. Never did hear more about the guy whose legs were pinned between parked cars.
