Body found on beach near Carkeek Park

A woman was walking on a remote stretch of beach about a mile north of Carkeek Park this morning when she discovered a body, Seattle Police say. Officers and Burlington Northern staff responded to the scene just after 9 a.m. and found the body of a man in his 40s near the train tracks.

Seattle Police says this is a “death investigation,” and did not provide any more information. We’ll keep you updated.

  1. I don’t think this is correct. My friend is the one who found the “body”. She wasn’t the one who called it in because she didn’t have a cell phone. But she was there when the police came. They woke him up and he was walking off up the beach when the police left.

  3. Then you must be thinking of a different situation. Because a body doesn’t get reported all day from multiple news sources if it isn’t there.

  4. A woman was found dead in a homeless “camp” in the woods around Shoreline Community College yesterday or the day before. Perhaps there is a connection.

Wow, dead body found and it’s a death investigation… it’s like that CSI show.

Amazing how they connected those sort of things. It’s almost unpossible.

  6. That probably just means they don’t want to talk about whether it could have been a suicide or a homicide. It’s generally regarded as good policy not to give suicides much attention in the press, and there could be reasons for keeping a homicide investigation low profile as well. But yeah, it’s a dumb term.

  7. I heard this on the scanner, but I couldn’t tell where it was other than that it was on a beach. Harbor patrol was headed there and there was some concern about the tide coming in. Sure sounded like a dead dead body to me.
