BBQ, boutiques and liquor licenses

There are several business changes to report on in Ballard.

According to the sign in the window, Ballard Best B.B.Q. will be moving into the former Chai House location at 5463 Leary Ave NW. (Thanks Caryn for the tip!)

The women’s boutique Ella Mon is closed. In an email to her customers, owner Monica writes, “We’ve come so far, but after a lackluster spring/summer season, we need to close our doors.” As we reported yesterday, Ketch boutique has just opened on Ballard. Ave.

Several new businesses have applied for liquor licenses. The first is Harlow’s (shown above), which will be located at 5200 Ballard Ave. N.W. Their application says they’ll be a restaurant/lounge selling spirits, beer and wine with less than 50 percent dedicated dining.

The Blue Glass has also applied for a liquor license in the former Tigertail location at 704 NW 65th. Their liquor license application is “to sell spirits, beer, and wine by the individual serving for on-premises consumption. In this case, 50 percent or more of the establishment is dedicated to dining.”

  1. Speaking of liquor license, I wonder what the status is with the Thirsty Fish? Weren’t they supposed to be open by now?

Good luck to these new endeavors!

  2. Let’s not forget Dish it up! which is opening October 15 at 5320 Ballard Avenue. We’ve got our liquor license app in, too; we’ll sell wine by the bottle and will have an extensive supply of specialty bitters and vermouths (as well as barware for the discerning bartender!).

  3. msballard30 promised the Forum she was “done” with comments here.

One day later, look who’s back, trolling away, claiming to know who is who and essentially accusing other posters for lying about their job based on no information at all.

    msballard30 – LEAVE. Thanks.

  4. Was always a good place if you were getting pretty desperate around 1am, not the prettiest but most of them lived within walking distance.

  5. Hey there OAC trainier, I’m forwarding your remarks on to Mark. As an OAC member, I resent being called “a fattie”, and I’m pretty sure it is not company policy to denegrate their members, or the population of the neighborhood that they serve.

  6. Why should anyone care where private business funding comes from? Some of you people are sad and pathetic with your pettiness and snide remarks.

  7. Are you suggesting that OAC employees should not be allowed to comment here about girls they see at the Matador? How do you even know he’s an employee? Maybe he just trains there.

Your whining self-entitled attitude makes you sound……. FAT!

  8. Unfortunately, they (or, probably just one frustrated little “him”) will simply keep going and going and going, unless the commenting requirements are improved.

  9. I really do hope you follow through and do this! Of course, he could be just creating that name and I doubt you can prove anything to the manager. But still, please do it!!

  10. Don’t get mad, just go lose some weight and be smok’en hot for next summer when all these places are in full swing (er).

  11. I believe I was the one who first reported on the forum about the new BBQ place at the old Chai House location, so thanks for the credit, but my name is not Caryn.

  12. You know, for a lot of people, a bar is just a place to get a drink. Please confine your predatory meat-market activities to bars I do not like, like BalMar and The Loft. Thanks!

(Yes, I’m kidding. It’s a free country. But, damn, I wonder how many of you people have roofies on your nightlife checklist)

  13. Since Seattle hands out liquor licenses with the frequency of parking tickets (as opposed to drinking in public tickets) I decided to open a bar in my van. I had to jump through hoops if I wanted to serve food and snacks but thet said I was good to go for just booze. I hope you all come to hang and get loaded. Remember to tip your bartender-me.
