Free mammograms in Ballard Tuesday

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is trying to help women detect the cancer as early as possible. According to SCCA, “The percentage of women over 40 who reported having a mammogram has fallen over 15 percent in Washington State over the last year.” On Tuesday, the SCCA “Mobile Mammography” van will be in Ballard offering free mammograms for uninsured women between the ages of 40 and 64.

The van will be set up from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Safeway at 15th & Market (1423 NW Market St.)

If you are insured, here is a list of mammography centers in the area.

  1. I also offer “mobile mamm’s” in my van. Look for the mustard yellow van with the desert mural and bubble window. Free lollipop when done.
