The holidays are a busy time for the Ballard Food Bank. Nancy McKinney, the executive director of the food bank sent us the following note:
The Ballard Food Bank is gearing up to serve 1,200 people the week of Thanksgiving! We need your help to fill our shelves with holiday food throughout the season – all items that would trim the table.
In October we served 4,148 individuals; 825 of which are 18 and younger. In addition we deliver food to 90 home bound seniors and disabled adults.
How can you help? Please donate shelf stable food such as canned food, boxed food, prepacked items. Donate fresh or frozen turkeys, produce and dairy the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas so we can be sure to give a turkey to every family that needs one. Donate hygiene items such as shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant. Donate money through our website, www.ballardfoodbank.org, or the mail.
Donation hours: Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 4 pm or Fridays please call ahead to arrange.
The Ballard Food Bank is very appreciative of our community: Ballard, Magnolia and Queen Anne. We are able to serve because of the support we get from our neighbors.
