A “Pineapple Express” is headed our way, which means wet weather.

University of Washington Meteorologist Cliff Mass says that if you want to get anything done outdoors over the weekend do it before 3 p.m. Saturday. “At this point, this event is no record-breaker, but it will bring serious rain and much warmer temperatures,” Mass writes on his weather blog. “Rain will fall on all that nice fresh snow in the mountains, SERIOUSLY contributing to a significant avalanche threat later in the weekend. Backcountry travel should be avoided then.”
A MyBallard reader sent an email to remind people to help prevent urban flooding. “Walking around Ballard, I still see a lot of leaves in the streets, and a lot of drains blocked as a result; the puddles that form around these blocked drains make it dangerous for everyone on the roads (and on the sidewalks).”
