Special auction item at Norwegian Ladies Chorus fundraiser

This Sunday is the annual Fishcake and Meatball Dinner put on by the Norwegian Ladies Chorus of Seattle. The fundraiser raises money for their music scholarship fund, which has given thousands of dollars to local students.

An original August Werner painting will be auctioned off this Sunday

Artist August Werner and his wife Matty were the founders of the Norwegian Ladies Chorus back in the mid-1930’s. Werner was a musician, sculptor, painter and poet. During Sunday’s live auction, an original painting by Werner will be auctioned off.

There will be both Silent and Live Auctions, as well as entertainment by the Ballard High School Women’s Chamber Choir, To Norske, and the Norwegian Ladies Chorus. There will be homemade Scandinavian pastries and baked goods to follow the fishcake and traditional meatball dinner. There will be a no-host bar with beer, wine, and soft drinks.

The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Leif Erikson Lodge (2245 NW 57th Street) and reservations are required. Tickets are $25, reservations required. Call Arlene at (206) 784-1290.

  1. Thanks for the plug on this, MyBallard. The event was sold out again, for the third year in a row and the person who bought the painting found out about the piece from this story. It went for $500! Lots of money raised for local scholarships and boy, can they use it.
    Thank you!
