Woman steals car in Ballard, runs out of gas on I-90

A 45-year-old woman is in the King County Jail for Investigation of Auto Theft and Eluding after police say she stole a car at a Ballard car dealership.

From the SPD Blotter:

On March 11th, shortly after 7:00 AM, a North Precinct officer observed a car being driven erratically around 105th and Aurora Avenue North. The officer attempted to pull over the driver, but the car took off. The officer wisely backed off and did not pursue. It was determined that the car had just been stolen from a dealership in Ballard. The officer broadcast the vehicle description and about an hour later the Washington State Patrol located the stolen car parked along Interstate 90. The adult female suspect was standing next to the car, throwing rocks at it. Seattle Police responded to take custody of the suspect. She acknowledged that she had stolen the car, and would have driven it all the way to Chicago, had it not run out of gas. The 45 year old female was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Auto Theft and Eluding.

  1. Shouldn’t she be setting an example and stealing a bike? In Seattle’s jihad on vehicles, it’s no wonder they didn’t pursue her. Maybe that dealership will learn and start having “free autos” every Weds? Some might say it was “only a car” and that nobody got hurt. Where do you live again?

  2. One cannot help but think of the R-word here. Dealership cars barely have enough gas for a test drive, much less a cross country trip. And they *do* have a gas gauge. Better take her to Western State first.
