Laura Bee Designs raises thousands for charity

Just after last month’s devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Laura Bee Designs launched a fundraiser for Mercy Corps.

The goal of the “Buttons for Japan” fundraiser was to raise $1,500 by April 15th. “The customer response was terrific,” owner Laura Buzard tells us. The team made 1140 buttons, sold in packages of four and raised $1,995. “So many people came and told us about their connections with Japan, and to express their compassion for the people impacted by the earthquake and Tsunami,” says Buzard. “We sold about half of the pins to people who came into our store, the other half were ordered online and shipped to both local destinations and those across the country.”
