Shuttered movie house to reopen with new focus

The Majestic Bay Theatres (2044 NW Market St) is one of the few remaining independent movie houses in Seattle. Uptown Theatre in lower Queen Anne and the Neptune Theater in the U District recently closed their doors, leaving Ballard’s renovated theater a rare success story. The Neptune has been saved by the wrecking ball and will soon become a live music venue.

Students from the UW Entrepreneurial Journalism class, taught by our partners at the Common Language Project, talk with former employees of the Neptune who say the closure could have been prevented.
