Fitness 19 opening in Ballard

Ballard is getting a new low-cost health club. Fitness 19 is getting ready to open later this year at 5680 24th Ave NW.

A new health club getting ready to open across from QFC

The new gym sounds like it will be a no-nonsense place. Their model is this: provide good equipment and keep the membership dues low. The name says it all “Fitness 19” – which means work out for no more than $19 per month. We stopped by the pre-enrollment center in the old Asher Anson space next to Majestic Bay Theater and were told that dues are month-to-month and never increase. There are no contracts and dues are never more than $19 a month. The pre-opening special for the first 199 members is $12 to enroll and $12 a month.

The 8,200 square foot gym will have all brand new Life Fitness cardio equipment, strength equipment and free weights. There will be a staffed kids room that you don’t have to make an appointment for as well as 20 parking spots below.

They say they’re different than other local health clubs in the neighborhood because of their price and they don’t have classes.

Fitness 19 is a local company that started with a location in Maple Valley and expanded across the country before opening here in Ballard. They plan to open in September.

  1. Ahhh, I wonder if I can use my other membership at this location, as well. I like the low key atmosphere. A fine addition to the community.

  2. i just signed up– FWIW here are the fees to sign up:
$12 first mo (they expect to open sept 1)
    $12 last mo
    $45 processing
$29 annual maintenance fee (charged in Dec.)
    + tax = 75.55
the way i figure- all that divided by the 4 months left in the year
(assuming they open 9/1) it’ll cost me $$38/mo this year (that’s almost
half of what i pay now).  and next year it’ll be around $14/mo (which is
1/4 of what i pay now).  month to month- no contract, 30 day notice to cancel.
