Two architecture firms will be in front of the Design Review Board this evening – one is meeting for their Early Design Guidance (EDG) meeting, the other for their second recommendations meeting.
A look at the “C” shape scheme
At 6:30 p.m. developers for a six-story residential building will meet with the board for the EDG meeting. This project is at 1760 NW 56th St, just across the street from the proposed Nyer Urness House. Plans call for 130 residential units with 1400 square feet of retail at street level and 112 parking stalls below grade. The current buildings will be torn down.

At 8 p.m., immediately following the EDG meeting, developers with Ballard’s largest proposed building will come back in front of the Design Review Board. The project description from the design proposal:
305 apartment units in seven story building with two basements. Approximately 12,000 square feet of retail and 400 accessory parking stalls. Site located at Northwest Market Street and 24th Ave NE including approx 70,000 sf of site area. Building will have south facing courtyard and upper level roof terrace. Parking garage will be accessed from mid-block of NW 56th Street and from the southwest corner of the building on NW Market Street.
Tonight’s second recommendation meeting will be to discuss the elements that the board wanted further information on: The staging of the garbage along NW 56th St, the four or five units located at the eastern end on the NW 56th St façade, the appearance of the two parking entries and associated signage and window treatments and detailing.
