Building razed to make way for ‘eco-development’

A demolition crew is out today razing the building that formerly housed Full Circle Yarn at 2034 NW 56th St.

The demolition permit was issued last month and just last week two different construction permits were approved (here and here).

The new development, which is called The Greenfire Campus, is composed of two buildings – one office space, one residential. According to the Land Use Application, there will be a four-story office building with 18,505 square feet of space and a five-story, 18-unit residential building. A total of 32 parking spaces will be provided.

Ray Johnston of Johnston Architects tells the Daily Journal of Commerce in a recent article that developers hope this project sparks an ‘eco-district’ in Ballard. He says that food will be grown on the property for restaurants and passersby and there will be a P-Patch for residents.
