‘Tiny but Mighty’ students collect 700lbs of coins

The annual Penny Harvest is over and Adams Elementary students have collected a total of 27 bags of coins. The students ran the campaign with the slogan Tiny but Mighty.

“We’re really excited that all the generous donations helped us beat the Penny Harvest 25 sack challenge,” parent Bobbi Windus tells us.

The students filled 22 canvas sacks of coins, about 700 pounds worth and received $246, which equals five bags of coins.

Next month student leaders in the fourth and fifth grades will organize service projects and determine which community organizations will receive grants.

“Thanks to everyone who contributed to their spare change,” Windus says. “Penny Harvest helps students realize that when we work together, people of all ages can make a powerful impact.”
