Family-style dining in Ballard

Get to know your neighbors over the dinner table at Ballard’s newest restaurant. Belle Clementine at 5441 Leary Ave NW opens tonight.

The restaurant, named after owner David Sanford’s grandmother, features one seating four nights a week, taking Monday through Wednesday off. Sanford will prepare one meal a night but is flexible to accommodate vegetarians and people food allergies (with advance notice.) Beginning after the new year they’ll also have two weekend brunch seatings.

“I want it to feel approachable, like eating at a friend’s house,” Sanford tells Jessica Voelker of Seattle Met. Dinner is $35 for a three-course meal which includes a beverage pairing and gratuity. Brunch will be $20 which includes the meal, coffee or tea and gratuity.

In the future, diners at Belle Clementine will also have the opportunity to purchase a series of meals, which Sanford compares to a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).
