Ballard High School athletes to compete at state

Gymnastics
A number of Ballard gymnasts competed Saturday at the District competition at Sammamish High School. Two Ballard gymnasts are advancing to the state tournament next weekend. Senior Maria Volk is going to state to compete in the vault, floor and all around exercises while freshmen Lauren Lee and Laila Lee both are going on the bars and beam!

Wrestling
Two Ballard High School student athletes competed in 4A Regional Boys Wrestling at Rogers High School in Puyallup on Saturday. Both saw success at the meet with senior Miles Smalls taking 5th place sending him to compete at state in the 182 pound weight class. Senior Matt Kelly took 6th and will compete as an alternate at state. Kaila Lafferty competed for Ballard at the Region 1 Regional Girls Wrestling event in Bellingham Saturday. She ended up in 6th place at the meet!

Swimming
Six Ballard High School student athletes competed in two individual races and two medleys at the SeaKing 4A District swim meet at University of Washington pool over the weekend.

Senior Caleb Jaeger took 6th in the 100 butterfly race. Caleb will compete in the 100 butterfly and 100 breast stroke at State this weekend. In addition Ballard’s 200 free relay team will compete which includes Kyle Garrity, John Hall, Caleb Jaeger, Andrew Stevens, Philip Anderson, Alec Barrett-Wilsdon, Duncan Fowler, and Josh Pehrson!
