Two Ballard teams headed to Global Reading Challenge finals

Two teams of Ballard fourth and fifth graders are heading to the finals of the Global Reading Challenge.

Nine of the 10 books the students read. The entire book list is here.

The Global Reading Challenge is a “Battle of the Books” quiz bowl where teams are quizzed on ten books that the students have read. The Challenge starts at the school level, where 45 teams citywide were narrowed down to one from each school. After the semi-final round, ten teams will head to the finals later this month. Adams Elementary and Loyal Heights Elementary will share the stage with eight other finalists. This is the second year in a row that Adams will have a team in the finals. It’s the first time in 17 years that Loyal Heights will be represented.

The finals are on Tuesday, March 27th at 7 p.m. at the Central Library (4th & Madison) in the Microsoft auditorium. (The Global Reading Challenge is sponsored by Ballard Rotary, of which I’m a member.)
