Next Thursday, June 28, a Ballard author and illustrator will read from her debut children’s book at Secret Garden Books. Jo Simonian’s book titled, “Each Tiny Tooth,” is about what happens to a tooth after the Tooth Fairy picks it up.

See if you can find the tiny “tooth” in each hand sewn illustration.Using needle and thread, felt, beads and other objects, Jo Simonian started creating art for children’s books after her young neighbor introduced her to the exquisite art of Salley Mavor. At the same time, she began caring for her mother. She found the time passed so sweetly when she had something to do with her hands while being present for her mom.
