Whitman students win film contest

A handful of Whitman Middle School students won for their short films in the King County Library’s “Read, Film, Win” contest. The contest challenged participants to make videos about teen books.

“The Running Dream,”  produced by Jesse Romero, Adrianna Mitalas and Alyssa Korth.

“Hippie Boy,” produced by Sydney Janeway, Kayla Moore and Nikki Simpson  (The book was written by Sydney’s mother.)

The above videos were produced by the students while they were in the 7th grade Whitman video production class, lead by their teacher Christopher King. “The Running Dream” won first place for best trailer; the filmmakers took home a trophy and $100 gift card for Best Buy. The awards ceremony was held in Issaquah on Sunday.
