A U-District dining spot known for its biscuits has opened its Ballard location at 5905 15th Ave NW.

Taking over the space formerly occupied by the Blue Dog Kitchen — which closed on May 30 after five years in Ballard — Morsel will feature some new menu items compared to its U-District counterpart, and also sports a drive-thru lane for Ballardites on the go. The biscuit and coffee shop held its grand opening on the Fourth of July, hosting a barbecue as a way to introduce itself to the neighborhood.

At the time of its closure, the Blue Dog Kitchen noted on Facebook that some of its history would live on in the new cafe, saying in May that:

Our homemade chai drinks will still be available at various retail locations around Seattle under the brand name One Jasmine Chai. Our chai will still be available at our current retail location in Ballard when the new tenant, Morsel, opens for business on July 1st.

Open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, the new space serves up fresh biscuits, homemade jams, sandwiches, and specialty coffee. The new Ballard location comes just over a year after Morsel opened in the former Nook location in the U-District.
