What’s on this weekend

As summer winds down, Ballard still has plenty to offer this weekend. Take a look at what this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday have going on in the neighborhood.

Friday, August 22

  • Movie Night at the Loyal Height Community Center (2101 NW 77th St) at 6:30 p.m, featuring the Disney animated hit Frozen. Admission is free for the screening (but donations are welcome), while popcorn and snacks will be available for purchase. Papa Bois Food Truck will be on hand as well.   • Outdoor Movie Screening at Shilshole Bay Marina (7001 Seaview Ave NW) at 8 p.m. Featuring Hook, with Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. Admission is free, and attendees are asked to arrive early to claim their spot on the lawn. For more information, click here.
  • Outdoor Movie Night at Ballard Commons Park (5501 22nd Ave NW) at 8 p.m., featuring Frozne. Hosted by Sweet Mickey’s, along with other Ballard businesses and the Ballard Chamber, beverages, ice cream and popcorn will be provided.
  • Live Music at Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW) at 8:30 p.m. Featuring The Rosebuds, and special guests El May. Tickets are $12. 21 and over. For more information, click here.
  • Live Music at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring The Crying Shame, the Joy Mills Band, and Heavy Dew. For more information, click here.

Saturday, August 23

  • Reiki 1 Class for Abundance at Ballard Healing Arts (8314 8th Ave NW) at 8 a.m. No previous reiki or bodywork experience for this intro class. For more information, click here.
  • Pancake Breakfast at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (6512 12th Ave NW) at 9 a.m. All are welcome to enjoy a pancake breakfast with your neighbors. A $5 donation is suggested.
  • Botanical Drawing at Swansons Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Illustrator and instructor Nicole Stremlow Monahan hosts this workshop for all skill levels, which covers a method of ink drawing and watercolor wash to capture your garden on canvas.   • Retro Bingo and Bake Sale at Northminster Church (7706 25th Ave NW) from 5 to 9 p.m. Come play bingo in your favorite retro outfit and win great white elephant prizes. Prize offered for best outfit as well.
