Development Update January 12: Appeal of Urban Rest Stop

An appeal to the DPD’s approval of the Ballard Urban Rest Stop is the only entry for our neighborhood in today’s Land Use Information Bulletin.

The Land Use Application to allow 1,952 sq. ft. to be used as a community center (hygiene center) at ground level in a 51 unit low-income elderly apartment building (approved under separate Permit #3012980 and #6305188) has been appealed.

The following decisions have been appealed:

    • Conditionally Grant – Administrative Conditional Use to allow a community center in a Midrise zone within 600′ of an existing institution (Ballard Branch of the Seattle Public Library).
    • Conditions: Conditions have been placed on this project. You may view the decision through our web-based Land Use Information Bulletin, or contact either the assigned planner whose name and phone number appears above, or contact the Public Resource Center (206-684-8467, prc@seattle.gov ). Reference Seattle Municipal Code 23.45.506.
    • Grant – Administrative Conditional Use to allow an institution in a Midrise zone that does not meet parking requirements. Reference Seattle Municipal Code 23.45.504.

The Appeal Hearing will be held on February 10, 2015, at 9 a.m at the Office of the Hearing Examiner (700 5th Avenue #4000, Seattle).
