Crime Update: Break-ins on Ballard Ave

According to the SPD two businesses were broken into on the 5300 block of Ballard Ave NW in the early hours of Friday, April 10.

The first burglary occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. and was captured on a surveillance camera. The footage shows two hooded males walking up to the business before breaking in.

In the video, one suspect appeared to be light skinned, 6’2, 185lbs, slim build, wearing a hooded sweatshirt under a North Face coat, cargo pants, converse shoes with a goatee. One suspect acted as a lookout as the other entered the business through a window and riffled through the cupboards, refrigerators, and drawers.

The suspects stole approximately $378.00, a Sony VIAO Laptop, and a IPad. One suspect spent approximately 25 minutes in the business before fleeing from the same window.

SPD took metal pans believed to have been touched by the suspect to recover fingerprints.

Another business owner on the same block arrived to work on the morning of April 10 to find the door broken. The owner then discovered that items were missing including a Canon 5D DSL camera with a 1000millimeter lens, light/flash sensor and 8GB SD card.
