No picketing for teachers today – community service projects planned around the city

In observance of September 11, Seattle teachers and parents will be putting down their picket signs and will be doing community service projects instead.

West Woodland teachers will be collecting food for the Ballard Food Bank at the school and Ballard Market all day. There will be teachers at the school collecting food from 8:30 to 11 a.m. this morning, and at Ballard Market from 8:30 to 2:30 p.m. Those who want to help by donating food can drop off donations at either location.

Whittier teachers will be at Baker Park doing clean up around 9, and will then go to Kirke Park around 11:00 a.m. for more clean up. They will also be collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to local food banks, according to My Ballard reader Adriane.
