Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to the animal community this Holiday season? Consider donating to your local shelter, or give a dog or cat their forever home.

This week, Ballard-based Trupanion (907 NW Ballard Way) is “donating over 6 tons of dog and cat food to animal shelters including Seattle Humane Society, Everett Animal Shelter, and The Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County.”

This an annual food drive is a major push within Trupanion’s Shelter Support Program. This program’s mission is to help homeless pets in need. This year’s donations almost doubled last year’s pet food donation of 3.9 tons and was able to reach more shelters.

“Trupanion’s annual food drive has become one of the team’s favorite times of the year, and we’re thrilled to know that through our efforts we are making such a difference in the lives of pets,” said Emily Renfrew, Shelter Support Manager at Trupanion. “These shelters work tirelessly to make sure that all pets are receiving the best care possible, and we hope this donation will help support their efforts.”

Not only does this donation go to feeding animals in shelters, the food donation also assists pet food banks run by Seattle Humane Society and the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County. This works to support low-income community members feed and keep their pets in their homes.
