Magnolia Bridge to close for maintenance this weekend

SDOT is reminding travelers that maintenance crews will close the Magnolia Bridge from 8 p.m. Friday, January 29, until 8 a.m. Saturday morning, January 30. During this time, the Magnolia Bridge will be closed to all traffic between 15th Avenue West and Thorndyke Avenue West.

If crews are unable to complete this work over Friday night, they will again close the bridge from 8 p.m. Saturday, January 30, until 8 a.m. Sunday, January 31.

This closure will allow crews to replace worn grout pads between the bridge deck and steel beams. This and other periodic maintenance helps prolong the life of the bridge.

During the closure, drivers may use the West Dravus Street or West Emerson Street overpasses to travel between Magnolia and Interbay. Drivers will still be able to access the Galer Street overpass to Piers 86 through 91.

Access to Elliott Bay Marina and nearby businesses will be available via one of the ramps. Flaggers will be present to maintain two-way traffic.

King County Metro routes 19, 24, and 33 will also be rerouted during this work. For information about bus service, visit King County Metro’s website at www.kingcounty.gov/metro or call (206) 553-3000.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this closure, please call SDOT at (206) 684-ROAD (7623).
