Exciting news in from the team at Old Ballard Liquor Co. We are pleased to report that their Swedish style Älskar Aquavit made a special trip to the 2016 Academy Awards on Sunday evening.
Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander (Best Actress in a Supporting Role, The Danish Girl) chose Seattle based Old Ballard Liquor Co. to provide their Swedish style Älskar Aquavit as personal gifts to other Swedish Oscar nominees.
Old Ballard Liquor Co. owner and distiller Lexi was contacted by the Swedish actress’s representatives wishing to feature this Aquavit exclusively for her special gift packages.
“It is unbelievable that out of all the Aquavits in the world to choose from, this is the one that was picked,” says owner Lexi.
Aquatic is a Scandinavian staple that dates back to the 1500’s, when early distillers flavored their spirits with popular Northern European spices. Today there are hundreds of brands Aquavits available in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
