PNA Village looking for members and volunteers in Ballard

As the My Ballard team reported back in January, the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s PNA Village is coming to Ballard and the team is seeking members and volunteers!

The PNA team is hosting an event at Ballard Senior Center () this Saturday, March 5, at 2 p.m. for locals to learn more about what the Village is, how it works, and how they can be part of it.

The program is geared towards seniors to allow them to stay in their own homes as they age and get some of the smaller errands and tasks done with volunteer assistance.

As a volunteer, a person can be either a “Handy Helper”, a “Friendly Visitor”, or a “Village Driver”.  Examples of tasks that members can request help with include grocery shopping, moving items to a storage area, changing light bulbs that you can no longer reach, getting a ride to the library, or having a weekly phone chat.

The PNA Village has been serving Phinney and Greenwood and Broadview for three years and is now ready to expand to Ballard and Sunset Hill.

If you have questions about PNA Village membership or eligibility, call Riana Nolet, PNA Village Director, at (206) 789-1217 or e-mail rianan@phinneycenter.org.

Further information is available online for those wanting to become members or volunteers.
