Limback Lumber Co. vandalized in Ballard

The entire side of Limback Lumber Co. (2600 NW Market St) was vandalized Monday night with the words, “Most people can’t handle real freedom”. The graffiti was noticed by Debi Boyette‎, who posted the below photo in the My Ballard Group page.

Tony from Limback tells My Ballard they were able to wash it off and repaint it yesterday.

Apparently, the “artist” was busy — Tony says they heard about a building in Fremont that was vandalized with the same message.

The City of Seattle has an online program to report graffiti — the Find It, Fix It app is one fairly easy way to flag vandalism. There’s also this city website with information about graffiti prevention and removal.

  1. Graffiti is everywhere from Ballard to Fremont. The Ballard Post Office doesn’t seem to be held to any standard of keeping exterior free of tags. The city refuses to prosecute, the police won’t respond, and businesses are fined for not removing tags quickly enough. Clown world.

Was it worth the trashing of our neighborhoods just to virtue signal against “evil conservatives”, Seattle? Sadly, I know the answer to that is “yes”. Leftists in Seattle have cut off their own nose to spite their face. You’ve voted some real LOSERS into power and things will only worsen. Sad to see Ballard turn into Crapitol Hill. I suppose it’s obvious, but even the environment is worse off in Seattle under the Far Leftists now with trash, feces, and RV toilet dumping everywhere.

    1. Please explain your plan for stopping graffiti in Seattle, and catching those that do it. Specifically in this instance, what would the police be able to do? What could Limback have done differently to discourage graffiti on their building?

As for your longwinded ramble on the state of Seattle, I think you’re putting too much thought into the mindset of a kid who wanted the rush of senseless vandalism.

      1. Short of doling out a well deserved beating, how about, if the SCC ever actually hires some more cops to catch them (Hah!), we make the little miscreants spend their weekends for the next year scrubbing off every bit of graffiti in the city? Or is that not “compassionate?”

          1. No, we need more cops ENFORCING the law. They don’t remove the tents and Rvs, so here we are. This is a tough one for you, huh?

          2. Are the cops not enforcing vandalism laws? If a cop was around Limback last night, would he or she have enforced the laws?

Providing you move your car according to parking limits, parking your RV and living in it isn’t a crime, so how exactly are cops going to remove the RV’s?

It’s ok that you’re all riled up my man! that’s good! I’d suggest doing something constructive to try and help. Maybe look into how you can volunteer at local churches and shelters to help.

          3. Which church? St Lukes? Well, they FEED THE JUNKIES so I think I’ll take a pass on helping their little tax-free scam that turned Commons Park into an open air jail.

          4. Do the whole drug war all over again, except no feeding anybody. It will work this time for sure

          5. Our heroin comes mostly from Mexico. Do with that info what you will, Smart Guy. One of the biggest cartel kingpins lived in Yakima for years. To the extent that heroin destroys not just the user, but their families, communities and victims (if they turn to crime to feed very expensive habit) then yes, logically that is the KIND OF THING YOU DO WAGE WAR ON, GENIUS. It’s just like terrorism. Notice the uptick in Hispanic gangs shooting each other in the South End? HUH GEE WONDER WHY THAT IS. Our stupid “leaders” seem to think it’s because there aren’t enough ballfields or something, instead of Seattle being another “sanctuary city” dumping ground of ideas that failed already in California.

This “safe injection” site lunacy is actually a big gimme to the drug cartels who will no doubt step up their game here since use is practically legal now.
            NICE JOB LIBTARDS.

          6. and what? feed them for free. and then go home to my vandalized home or business.
think about that………let that sink in for a minute. you are asking someone to go and volunteer to feed the same people that just vandalized their place.
if all the living on the streets in an rv and car is so legal then why cannot i just dump my garbage on the sidewalk and streets? why can i not park anywhere i feel fit? why is it illegal for me to stand on the street corner and smoke a joint but they can shit , shoot heroine, snort meth, harass people walking by , piss and dump their garbage? explain that one.
i think you need to go to church and pray my friend , because lawlesness is on its way in and everyone that is standing in defiance of doing something about these folk are going to be devoured by the same, and then wanting help from those of us that have been telling you to wake up and smell the coffee. you are going to be abandoned by your government, ignored by your police dept., and left with nothing but the same people whom you are defending now ransacking your things and robbing raping and pilaging. and i am neither rep nor dem , i am just a very concerned citizen watching the rest of you whine cry piss and moan our world over stupid shit when the real problems are not being dealt with.

          7. “Tony from Limback tells My Ballard they were able to wash it off and repaint it yesterday.” That’s less than one day, children.

You think anybody at Limback’s is the kind of guy to go crying to mommy just because their wall got graffitied? You think this is the first time it’s ever happened? Their wall got spay painted. They took care of it. You’re whining that it’s the apocalypse.

Limback’s will be there tomorrow, and they’ll be there next year. When they decide to sell that lot they’re on they’ll make a mint. It’s GOING to be OKAY!

Get a grip. Stop cowering in fear because of some graffiti.

          8. If that’s the case we should just all give up and move to Detroit. It seems like you don’t give a ____ about where you live.

          9. I’m a pretty liberal person and I completely agree that we need more cops. We need a certain amount of cops just to hit the streets on bicycles to be present. The ONLY time cops respond to anything at all is when there is a violent crime in process. Anything else they just want you to fill in an online report.

          10. Yeah, we need more cops, more divers cops, and cops with higher expectations. Good cops can be grat ambassadors for the city. Cops don’t need to make arrests, the just need to show up, represent that the city has authority, and make note of the situation. This isn’t about homelessness, it’s about 1) confronting a minority of jerks who commit semi-violent crimes (vandalism, robbery, just yelling at people in the park nonstop) who need to see that their actions have consequences and 2) getting people into actual systems that help them instead of assuming they will seek out things like detox, housing assistance, mental health assessments. Probably a lot of calls could use a police officer and an EMT response.

Finally, if we want cops that use nuance, that take and keep up with training, and that don’t ‘other’ people so much, we better pay those officers what they are worth and show them we care by providing structures to support their work. In exchange but only in exchange, I think it’s fair if we hold them to be accountable too. While I get that there’s only so much money in the pot, there are far better sources to take from that the police, and the whole city would benefit with some qualified increases in to police share too.

      2. Hey Genius, the RV tweakers love to cut up shit, steal, and tag walls. Letting them camp everywhere is why THESE ISSUES ARE ALL OVER FRELARD.

        1. So you’re saying the homeless people are the ones doing the tagging? You think the people that are living in tents (last night was super rainy btw) get up in the middle of the night and spray paint messages on local buildings.
And the other RV campers are tagging buildings getting their tag name on as much property as possible, not delinquent kids looking to cause trouble?

          1. Are you saying you aren’t familiar with meth addict behavior? If so, get “woke”. Many of the “vulnerable homeless” are felons and psychos who burned holes in their brains from toxic chemicals in the drugs they use.

          2. This happened the night before last, oh wonder of righteousness. It wasn’t raining then.

      3. hire 1,000 snipers and place them in high graffitti areas. they will shoot on site, thus eliminating and scaring the rest. simple. problem solved.

  2. It’s likely this was done by one of the bike chopping/drug dealing/street pooping community members who were last week cleared off of the months-long squat across the street from Limback. A payback to Ballard for disrupting their alternative lifestyle. And the freedom they espouse? That’s the freedom to steal whatever they can to get that next fix.

      1. If a homeless person were threatening you, would beating said homeless with an aluminum bat in self-defense also be considered a ‘survival crime’? Asking for a friend.

          1. U R awesome. Much like a tiny minnow trying to fight off a giant shark. Snarky left leaning brain dead sharks that is. Most Ballard area liberals are SO open minded that everything has already fallen out.

    1. It wouldn’t surprise me. They believe living off the grid and stealing to survive are the meanings of ‘true freedom.’ Plus, that kind of childish ‘retribution’ seems apropos for a group of people that voluntarily choose to live in RV’s on a street.

      1. I seriously doubt that any of these people “voluntarily” choose to live in an RV. Just a hunch. But maybe you’ve stopped and talked to some of these people and gleaned some insight into why RV living is so much better than a house or apartment. If so, please invite them to come join our friendly little forum and tell us why.

But I bet you’ve never once stopped to even acknowledge these people are … people.

        1. Oh they’re people, and some of them are fine people down on their luck who are looking for us to help them find some way out of homelessness. And some of them are addicts and/or criminals, and some are those who’ve voluntarily chosen to live off the grid for whatever reason. Oh, and some of them have mental problems.
But of course you knew that, and of course I didn’t make myself clear that the ones who would resort to this kind of behavior are likely the ones who would also choose a criminal career or to start playing around with hard drugs.
So, to reiterate: yes, some of them are fine people, but the one(s) who did this is a big pile of human crap. Happy now?

        2. “these people are … people.”

So were Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. it doesn’t mean we want them roaming around our neighborhoods. And if you believe that none of them voluntarily choose to live in an RV, then clearly you’re the one that hasn’t spoken with them.

          1. To follow up, the city and the vagrant enablers (sorry, “homeless activists”) are always saying we should “just give them housing,” housing is a human right,” blah, blah, blah. Which, of course shows that they don’t understand the problem with the campers. It’s a drug problem, not a housing affordability problem for them. I mean, if we were to accept your claim that no one would “voluntarily” choose to live in an RV, then you wouldn’t have vagrants like Woody saying “F— housing!”:

            https://komonews.com/news/local/second-brutal-dog-attack-in-less-than-a-week-in-sodo

          1. You mean the commenters? Because that’s some serious syntactic ambiguity…

      2. Wait, I thought those were the values of the ‘ranchers’ that took over some federal proberty at gunpoint but were under no circumstances to be referred to as terrorists, because the right supports libertarians. Guess it’s okay if the crazy freedom fighter is a gun toating racist, but if it’s some unkown striking at midnight with some spray paint that takes less than an hour to deal with, it’s the progressive apocalypse.

Just to be clear, we know who took over BLM (as in DotI, not Black Lives) property in Oregon and most of them walked even though they are traitors in the most literal sense. No liberal is saying ‘graffiti is okay’ though, just maybe that a crime that took only an hour to mitigate isn’t worth days of questioning and analysis or paying for someone to get a high expense stay compliments of the state prison system. For all we know this is a conservative trying to drive backlash against homeless encampments. Why should we rush to act on a complete lack of evidence for a crime that has gotten much more attention from partisan bickering than it ever did from the actual ‘victims’?

Look, if the business wants to start a go fund me because they are a frequent target, I bet people will throw a few bucks at them. Vandalism sucks, whether it’s some jerk throwing a rock at your car probably because you are young and asian or if it’s marks on your business or workplace. I am sympathetic and happy to help in ways that will have an effect. Demonizing one side or the other over wanting actual responsible use of our city’s resources however doesn’t solve anything and further just proves that you can’t move beyond lables to actually address a problem. Well, too bad. I’m sure your echo chamber is nice and loud, but I think you will find you can’t move very far in it.

  3. Why is it so predictable that any implication that maybe, just maybe, some of the ‘most vulnerable members of our community’ are responsible for the surge of property crime, growing mounds of waste, piles of excrement on sidewalks, the harassment and intimidation of average citizens, etc., brings out virtue-blinded fools pretending they are so very woke and compassionate? (Taken a meth head into your house recently, oh noble one? Thought not.) Do they think think that flying their compassion flags is going to get them praise? Are the “I Believe in Science/Black Lives Matter” signs in their front yard not them that buzz of self-satisfaction any more?

    1. It’s probably a lot easier than that. If a SJW reads a post disparaging the homeless (any segment of the homeless will do), and even if you make the distinction of ‘a homeless junkie’ versus ‘a person who became homeless due to a medical emergency that wiped out their savings and cost them their job’, he/she/it and/or they will immediately assume you and those who agree with you are right-wing, evil heartless individuals.
Because discerning between the deserving and the undeserving is not feeding the narrative that ‘wokeness’ and ‘virtue signalling’ can fix everyone – because the SJW’s believe everyone is at the same level of despair and that all can be fixed equally with just a few more hugs and a little more social justice. It’s not convenient to understand that some addicts can’t be cured, and more to the point, that some don’t want to be cured. It’s hard to fathom that another hug won’t mend a criminals ways. It’s easier to point fingers at your opinions and call them bad, because, at the end of the day, the SJW’s don’t actually do anything to change anything. They point their fingers and blame society’s problems on those who disagree with their thinking points.

      1. Meanwhile, the conservative contengent rushing to the comments section of every local news story is clearly working hard to save the world. Coming up with new ways to negativity label people actually working to improve things is God’s work, and requires dedication and skill, lest equality and fareness get the upper hand.

  4. Somebody tell CM O’Brien about this vandalism, no doubt from one of his druggie “free spirit” constituents who don’t like to live by the rules the rest of us do. Tell this turd of a councilman from District 6 to pull his head out and do something about this sort of thing.

    1. Maybe you’d like to provide your address, and if your home gets spray painted, I’ll expect the same level of indifference for your own vandalism as you have for the business owner in this instance. Just as long as we don’t blame the homeless in any way, it’s cool, right?

        1. “It’s my stuff so it means more!” Oh wait…maybe he/she and/or they won’t care. After all, one of the founding tenets of being a good SJW is that all property is theft and therefore should be communal. So, tagging “…”s house wouldn’t really bother he/she and/or it because it’s cool man…all property belongs to everyone.

          1. You’ve shitposted 11 times today! That’s 11 more cans of food I pledge to the Ballard Food Bank. We’re up to 26 cans and counting. Good work, troll!

Your garbage posting feeds the hungry! Thank you! Post again!

          2. If it means you’ll give more food, OK. Make it an even dozen. That’s 12, but, you knew that already.

          3. Yes! It means I’ll give more food.

Sorry if I didn’t use small enough words for you to be absolutely clear on that. Keep posting repetitive, off-topic anti-homeless garbage. Your words are all farts in the wind, but you’re making a difference for hungry people camping in our neighborhood. Thank you! Post again!

          4. Your tent people are human raccoons carrying and spreading hepatitis and HIV, and committing crimes all over the city. They also have an environmental impact from the trash, feces, and RV toilet dumping into OUR watershed. Your snark doesn’t change that reality, and you’re really an a**hole for helping to ruin a formerly safe, clean city – not some kind of Super Humanitarian.

          5. Let it go. You’ll not change the mind of an SJW. Their motto is ‘shout back until you realize logic equals futility, and you take your ball and go home.’ I do hope the guy (or girl) does actually buy all those cans of food. I’d love a picture of him (or her) putting his money where his mouth (technically fingers) is.

          6. I’m not shouting. I’m feeding people, and you’re helping. Thank you!

          7. It’s not snark. It’s food. I’m pledging real food to feed real people who are really are hungry. It’s happening.

You’re right about the tents. What good is food without shelter? I’m thinking about donating a tent to the campers for every 100 or 200 shitposts. I’ll work it out, but rest assured: your repetitive, off-topic anti-homeless trolling is going to make it warmer and safer for someone camping in Ballard. I don’t want to see one of them forced to leave for lack of shelter. Keep posting and we’ll hit that goal!

          8. Would be nice if you read up on the environmental impact of the trash, feces and toilets on the watershed, and the high rate of blood borne pathogens among IV drug users, instead of spending time with passive aggressive SJW snark.

Thanks for going to bat for the burglars, muggers, car prowlers, sex offenders, and street shi**ers. Good work.

          9. You know, someday, we’ll look back on all this and we’ll laugh, and say “gosh you know, you were totally right, ha ha ha! The junkies and criminals really did just need a couple more hugs! I really did just need to create another safe space! It really was as easy as abandoning logic and embracing kindness and tolerance!”

          10. But you’re so very old. Someday the rest of this will look back on all this, but actuarially speaking, you’ll probably be dead, and forgotten. We will have learned from you, and will be sure to not let ourselves wither and turn inwards, reaching the end of our lives spending every single day angry and afraid.

Prediction: tomorrow, something will happen, and whatever it is, you will react with anger and fear. The next day, something else will happen, that will also make you angry, and make you afraid. So on, right into your grave.

          11. Oh, you and I won’t laugh, ‘chos. You seem completely devoid of humor. As a matter of fact, I’d peg you for a bible-thumping, arch ultra-conservative, if not for the fact that I remember from previous posts, you don’t actually pick a side. You just react to others’ opinions and try to refute them. You’re essentially a blank slate waiting for someone to write on you, in order to provide some type of personality.
Our man/woman/it “…” loves Swiss neutrality.

          12. Hey, if our recent tagger is reading this, can “All we are are farts in the wind” be your next tag slogan please?

      1. Posting online threats. You’re THAT freaked out about some spray paint on a wall. To have a life that safe and sheltered is something you should be grateful for.

How’d they do it in Mayberry? They had incompetent Barney Fife strutting around, saying “tough on crime” slogans and platitudes. They let him carry one bullet in his shirt pocket, because, seriously, that guy was too cowardly to trust with much firepower. It was cheap police theater to placate frightened old ladies. I bet we could put 1,000 Barney Fifes on the streets for the cost of 10 real cops. You’d see all those sharp uniforms out on the beat, and you’d pipe down. All you’re asking for is a little handholding when you see a piece of litter or a tag or a marijuana cigarette.

Seriously though. Graffiti is bad. Nobody wants graffiti. But don’t wet yourself over it. Pull yourself together.

        1. Something something Mayberry reference something NPC blah blah everyone is racist and sheltered I’m a woke and sophisticated NPC blah blah vote for more of same.

          1. Elenchos is “the author of all your pain”, right? Your arch nemesis. They sound like a powerful enemy to have. You must have done something terrible to anger the Elnchoses. Or the Elenchos. Are they a they or a them? What am I saying. Of course it’s a big conspiracy. It would have to be.

          2. ^^^This would make more sense spray painted on a wall somewhere.
            Just sayin’

          3. This makes 12 cans of food for the Ballard Food Bank. The more you post, the more I give. Keep posting. You’re feeding a lot of strays today.

Don’t spraypaint anybody’s stuff, by the way. That would be bad. You said you want law and order.

          4. I don’t tag houses. I’m a conservative, employed, and God fearing. Have a nice bong toke!

          5. “I’ll take a pass on helping…”

Looks like not. You just made it 15 cans of food and counting. Post again! Nobody gives a crap what your posts say. Who even reads them? Not counting yourself under a different screen name. But with every post, you’re feeding homeless people, park campers, RV campers, anyone in crisis, including drug users and immigrants. Anyone in need. You’re feeding them all.

Thank you for helping feed those in need! Post again. Post often.

          6. I’m a conservative, employed, and God fearing.

Rapid fire shit posting on a neighborhood blog under multiple personalities is not employment.

        2. Who’s threatening? I thought it was worded more like a request, personally. If you’re feeling threatened, you might be experiencing a bout of paranoia, which isn’t healthy. Shall I send someone by to give you a hug, and maybe throw some virtue signals your way?

          1. They’re sending bombs to the people Trump denounced. You’re a piece of garbage.

          2. I’m sure Trump enjoys Goodfellas as much as the next guy. And if you equate me with a guy who sends letter bombs, you have bigger problems than some nebulous ‘nemesis’ on a neighborhood news site.

    1. These weren’t children, or recreational taggers. This is the lifestyle street addict’s political manifesto. It was totally an “in your face, mutha f*ckers” act. And the ‘campers’ knew they weren’t valued additions to the neighborhood.

      1. That’s conspiracy theory talk. Around these parts we only allow “Russians Stole the Election” theories. Get woke, Friendo! Just because it looks EXACTLY LIKE something the local overgrown kidult druggies would do doesn’t mean anything.

          1. The hobos are pissing all over Seattle. Working people are fed up. VIKING UP, LOSER

  5. In Las Vegas you can beat the Hell out of them or shot one or two and get away with it. Las Vegas metro has enforced no fare -no ride law …..no free ride period !!! No stinky bums with cart full of garbage as they still get on the frigging bus for free and complain to metro many times. So next time I am taking pictures of the driver and the free loaders and starting a blog about Dysfunctional Seattle and Metro bus system……along with crime in Ballard buy a gun dummies and stop blood clot crying you feeble sissy yum yum people… Frigging clowns and fat pychodelic Keebler Elve looking freaks !

  6. Well I discovered that the person that wrote this is probably more intellectual that I am.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_freedom
There is a whole line of thought about “real freedom” that I am assuming most of us have never thought about.
However, why such a “free thinker” would spend so much time and effort on defiling a business in Ballard is a little beyond my old brain.
My thought is to please use your creative abilities in some more constructive and supportive way .

  7. Most real news organizations know better than to publish photos of graffiti, it only encourages and rewards the vandal for their crime.

  8. Names and labels, us, them, the finger pointing and blaming never ends and no one wins. Can’t any of you see this is exactly what the warring factions want you to do, pick a side and draw a line in the sand, to what end?
Stop worrying about what “they” are doing and have an original thought every now and then instead of this BS tribal mentality.
