Family of stabbing victim sets up crowdfunding campaign to pay for medical bills

The man who was stabbed after confronting a pair of tire slashers last weekend has a crowdfunding campaign to help pay for the cost of his medical bills.

Johnny Robinson — or Johnny Sunset as he’s known to friends — owns a tattoo shop, Electric Traveler Tattoo in Ballard. He was at his shop on Friday night when he saw the men slashing tires outside. Robinson chose to intervene, and was stabbed in the chest by one of the suspects.

According to the GoFundMe campaign details, Robinson’s injuries were life-threatening. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent several surgeries to repair a punctured lung. While he’s now stable, the cost of the whole ordeal is crippling for Robinson and his wife and two kids.

“The overwhelming amount of medical bills will set him, his family, and his business back,” the campaign reads. “Johnny was trying to help make the community a better and safer place; we are hoping now the community of Seattle will give back to support him in his recovery.”

The campaign goal is $15,000 — as of 8am Tuesday morning, $10,384 had been raised by 122 people in 24 hours. To donate to Robinson and his family, click here.

Police are still looking for the two men responsible for the crime.
