Java Bean to donate sales of specialty coffees to California fire victims

Ballard coffee shop Java Bean has chosen to donate all of the sales from their specialty Mole and Vienna drinks to the victims of the California fires.

Java employee Kelsi Eldredge is from Paradise, CA, which was almost completely destroyed in the recent fire. “My family is safe but we haven’t yet heard about our family home, and many of my friends lost their homes, and everything they owned, as they only had minutes to evacuate, with only the clothes on their backs,” Eldredge shared in the My Ballard Group.  She added that there’s no currently no power, water or cell service in the area, and residents likely won’t be allowed back into the town for several weeks.

“It’s going to be a long-term, ongoing need,” Eldredge tells My Ballard.

Eldredge says gift cards are helpful for displaced families — box stores such as Target or Safeway are good options. If you’d like to donate gift cards, she’s offered to personally send them to families who have been evacuated.

Java’s fundraiser will be going until Nov. 18, but Eldredge says that people can continue to drop off gift cards at the store indefinitely — she’ll be going to California in December to help her family.
