Driver hits traffic signal pole at 85th and 15th, knocks out power

A collision at the intersection of NW 85th St and 15th Ave NW caused the traffic signals to go dark for roughly an hour Tuesday afternoon.

According to Seattle Fire spokesperson Kristin Tinsley, an adult male drove his car into the traffic signal pole just after 12pm. The man sustained minor injuries — no medics were called to the scene.

SDOT says the two right northbound lanes were blocked, backing up traffic and causing delays. The intersection was operating as an all-way stop until about 1:30pm, when power was restored to the signals.

SDOT now reports that all lanes are back open and traffic is moving regularly again.
