15th and Market development almost complete

Work is nearing completion on the five-story commercial building on the corner of 15th and Market.

The building is expected to be finished by the end of March, according to Martin Selig Real Estate leasing agent Mike Brixner. They had expected to be finished earlier, but were a bit delayed because of the snow, Brixner said.

The tenants for the building will be a small-format Target, Equal Exchange Coffee, and Chase Bank on the first floor; Polyclinic on part of the second floor; and WeWork taking up the top two stories. Brixner says there’s 10,000 square feet of available space on the second floor, and the entire third story, 42,000 square feet, is still available.

There will be two floors of underground parking, with roughly 225 parking stalls on the first floor for retail customers, with the second floor down designated for tenant parking. The entrance to the parking garage will be in the alleyway to the east between the building and the neighboring AVA apartments, accessible via both Market St. and NW 56th St.

While the building will be finished soon, it will still be awhile before the tenants move in — Brixner said it will likely open up in the third quarter of 2019.

  1. Seattle: where the liberals who “hate corporate hegemony” celebrate big ugly box architecture.
Ballard is making Bellevue look tasteful these days. Nice work, Upzone/Rezone idiots!

    1. I don’t see anyone here “celebrating” anything; reporting a story =/= advocating or supporting the subject of the story.

      1. I think you just might get where UB was going here. It’s just that you don’t want to see or hear certain things that might bash your feelings. Funny how this works. When the rent-a-mob and media say it’s time or cool to protest you are right there, the group thinkers/mobs, otherwise it’s crickets. Ballard: where Berkeley and Manhattan meet up = liberal wealthy hipsters.

        1. No, he’s trying to equate “big ugly box architecture” with Liberals, who he doesn’t seem to much care for, even though “big ugly box architecture” exists everywhere, whether its “Liberals”, “Conservatives” or whatever.

Then, like clockwork, here’s Paintking trying to defend his irrational posts, with an equally irrational comment, for whatever reason…unless you are also Uncle Buck?

        2. Nah, bucky just blames all problems on his enemy: the left. He takes no responsibility and every time he opens his mouth it’s hateful rhetoric towards the left and his other favorite target: the homeless.

    1. Over on 56th/22nd? That’s an interesting question. Nothing has been filed with the city for that site, but if Chase is planning to move then it seems a good opportunity for some more housing.

    1. I think the increased competition is actually helping drive this. Developers I think are realizing that to attract clientele they can’t just have a nice interior, they need a nice exterior too. Even Wendy’s and Taco Time have made an effort to improve aesthetic which both benefits the community and hopefully brings in customers.

    2. Turns out this was designed by Perkins+Will, who are some of the best architects in our city. Glad we get to have high-quality projects like this in Ballard!

  2. There sure seems to be a bunch of whiners in this group. Let me give you a bit of advice…If you don’t like it here…MOVE and do us all a favor!!!
