Fremont’s Caravan Carpets is closing at the end of March

The whimsical carpet store in the Center of the Universe will soon be closing up shop.

Caravan Carpets, which has operated at 3500 Fremont Ave N for three decades, is a family-run Persian and Oriental carpet store, and they’ve just announced that they’ll be closing their doors at the end of March.

According to Vanishing Seattle, they’re closing because they’ve been evicted.

Owner Reza Katirayi, is loved in the community “for being welcoming and caring — always beckoning people in, educating folks about the beauty and artistry of carpets, sharing tales from all over the world over tea, inviting kids to jump on carpet stacks…generally making human connections and building community,” Vanishing Seattle posted.

Caravan Carpets’ last day of business will be March 27.
