Safety awareness presentation coming up next week in Fremont

On Tuesday, April 2, District 6 candidate and police officer Sergio Garcia will be hosting a presentation on safety awareness.

“As a police officer, I know the importance of keeping our families safe. Many of you have reached out to voice your concerns and ask questions in regards to public safety issues,” Garcia writes in the event info.

The event will be held at the Fremont Abbey (4272 Fremont Ave N), and will feature Donna Miles, a safety, self-defense, and family security consultant who will speak about how to be aware and respond to unsafe situations.

There’s room for 200, and the event is free and open to the public. Garcia will also be answering questions about safety from his position as a Seattle police officer. To RSVP or learn more, click here.

  1. “Everything is fine. Seattle is perfectly safe. Nothing to see here. But please let’s talk nonstop about phantom Russians, gender pronouns, and letting junkies shoot up in sanctioned facilities.”

I’ve heard there is this RADICAL SOLUTION to crime and predatory behavior in public. They used these organizations called “police forces” in the 20th century who enforced these weird things called “laws” that prohibited violence, theft, and public drug use. Pretty wild, huh? Hard to believe that local govts could do things besides collect taxes and give big concessions to their developer buddies and consultants – but according to historians these “police forces” worked well to keep the criminals at bay. I’ve heard the same about this concept called “borders”. Pretty wild, too. Back in the 20th century, govts acted on behalf of their citizens to protect them from smugglers and human trafficking by simply enforcing a national boundary.

Think of it as your social justice “safe spaces” but an entire city or country. WILD

    1. I wonder if Officer Sergio will be telling citizens to arm themselves, as I’m sure he feels more secure interacting with criminals knowing he has a force multiplier on his person. Knowing hand to hand combat is great and all, but even tough people lose fights – and no sane person is going to depend on their bare hands to protect their entire family. Think of firearms as “self defense tech”. Many of these junkie scumbags carry knives or even guns, so GOOD LUCK with your feminist jiu jitsu in the face of a perp with a long rap sheet used to fighting in prison.

You wouldn’t run a business with a notepad and an abacus and you don’t hunt with flint tools, do you?

      1. many of these lazy blog commenting scumbags carry cheetos and diet coke. they do think they’re better than everyone else, but since they rarely leave the basement, these creepy Uncles aren’t that dangerous…just creepy.
GOOD LUCK with your misogynistic and racist hatred that you still haven’t gone to therapy for.

        1. Not even your insults make sense. Try eating some protein.

Recommending women carry firearms is misogyny? You outdo yourself, which says a lot since your stupidity is epic. Haha you guys WANT WOMEN IN THE INFANTRY and I SUGGEST they carry firearms and I’m villain. Ask any veteran woman if she’s rather have a firearm than just fists against an attacker. Because the ones I know all own and/or carry JUST LIKE THE WOMEN ON THE POLICE FORCE.

Liberals are so inconsistent they make themselves crazy with the mental gymnastics.

I suppose all the grocery and pharmacy workers who got punched or stabbed were all racists and homophobes who just “imagined it”, right?

          1. was more a comment on your general ethos, not this specific comment. yes, you are a misogynist and a racist. you know you are, and you shirk responsibility of it whenever called out on it. your hatred is very palpable, and I for one am glad you are in the EXTREME minority of backwards thinking bigots in our community.

        2. OMG, how sad. So disagreeing with you makes for 1 of your fantasy labels. Kool-Aid drinker. Do us all a favor and turn off MSLSD and CNN (chicken noodle network) and come back to this century. Disagreeing with a gay then makes me a homo-phob? Disagreeing with a black man makes me a racist? You ARE a totalitarian. You ARE part of THE problem. Please move. Pull your string and get MSLSD. Spoon fed garbage. Like totally.

          1. lol…let me guess, fox news? alex jones? breitbart? are those the ones i should be paying attention to? for what it’s worth, i haven’t payed attention to msnbc or cnn for many years. they’re sensational, as are most mainstream outlets. disagreeing with someone who’s different than you does NOT make you a bigot, but making generalized comments about entire groups of people DOES make you a bigot. lil bucky is a prime example of who you do not want to be, and is hands down the biggest cancer of our community because of it. his hate is on here constantly and he seeks to tear people down rather than build people up. is that what you want to do too? move to a house in the middle of nowhere then, the time for tolerance of intolerance in our city is long gone.

        1. oh, you mean like 99% of your comments? you’re on nearly every article spouting hatred for seattle city council, women, non-whites, homeless, and anyone left of center, regardless of what the article is about. you’ve not once taken any ownership for any of the problems in the city, and even on positive articles you bitch about the above. YOU are the primary one consistently devoid of anything useful.

        2. Your points are simplistic and not real solutions, so there’s no real reason to respond. If you seriously think an answer to “Seattle is Dying” is just borders and more police, then you have got a lot to learn. I agree we need more police and need to enforce laws, but those alone are not a solution, but tools needed in the solution. When you can provide non hate-filled comments, with real and intelligent solutions to extremely complex problems, you’ll get more real and thoughtful responses.

          1. Again, another simplistic comment from you… The fact is that we have always had police and the border. The problem is greed, corporate welfare and government corruption, which in turn results in less money for police and border security. Address these issues and I’d bet things for ALL citizens would improve because there would be more money for police, infrastructure, parks, community outreach programs, etc.

  2. All these same folks that are always commenting on here and insulting one another should get together for beers and bong hits. It would make for a lively conversation.

      1. i have a job that works at building people up, rather than the constant tearing down that lil bucky does. that said, i’m open for discussion with people who have opposing viewpoints, unlike ^^

        1. “No negativity” led us into this shithole situation in Seattle. New Agey “positive thinking” only appears to work if you have everything in order and a fully functioning capacity for decisive action and trained, competent staff or individual. Ask any seaman, soldier, carpenter or cook and they will tell you same – of course these are the very same “blue collar” people we chased out of Seattle at breakneck speed. Coincidence that we now have an impotent bunch of cat dads and dog moms running this circus?

Murphy’s Law: you’ve heard of it, right?

          1. i know trump and sean hannity told you that people telling you to be more PC is the worst part of living in america, but that’s nowhere near what has led to the problems in seattle lol. caving to the NIMBY’s and not building proper transit led us into this shithole situation. sure, there are other factors, such as big pharma paying doctors to overprescribe painkillers, and having the worst income inequality in all major cities coupled with the most regressive tax structure in the country (thanks Republicans in Olympia). but the lack of housing and the lack of proper infrastructure is what’s led most to homelessness. you seem to understand this to some level with your “chased out of Seattle” comment – i actually agree with you. i think all of those folks should be able to afford to live in our city. it’s quite possible you and i see the problem as the same people (NIMBY’s and those who cave to them), but i haven’t yet heard you talk about needing housing or transit.

    1. I already extended an invitation to meet in person at the new cocktail bar opening in the old Walter’s location. Posting alone only enforces ideological divisions. Face to face, you might realize you have more in common than you think!

  3. Sadly, I missed this event. I think that the use of https://recfaces.com/ biometric surveillance systems should be the main topic of discussion for the next year. It’s a hot topic and it would be interesting to hear different opinions about that.
